Join Us – Make a Difference in Someone’s Life

Do You Have a Hobby? Why Not Share It?

Do you love walking, theatre, archery, cycling, cooking, or have any other hobbies? If so, why not combine your passion with helping others?

At Yorkshire Coast Sight Support (YCSS), we are always looking for friendly volunteers who can spare a little time—whether it’s once a week, once a month, or even just a couple of times a year. Your support can fit around your schedule, and every contribution is valued.

Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, and whatever you enjoy doing, you can change lives—and have fun while doing it!

Why Volunteer?

People volunteer for different reasons—some want to meet new people, some want to give back to a cause that has helped them or their loved ones, and others want to build confidence and learn new skills.

At YCSS, our volunteers become part of a friendly and supportive community—all you need is a smile!

Why Volunteer with YCSS?

By supporting people with sight loss, you can:

Boost their confidence and self-esteem
Help reduce social isolation
Encourage independent living
Promote access to the local community
Experience a personal sense of achievement

Ways You Can Get Involved

Volunteering at YCSS is flexible and rewarding! You can help with:

Driving or assisting on our minibus – Help transport members safely.
Social groups – Engage with people who have similar impairments.
Emotional and physical support – Be there for someone who needs a friend.
Form-filling assistance – Help with applications and paperwork.
Advice on aids and equipment – Support people in finding the right tools.

Hands-on roles! Love the outdoors? Gardening, fixing things, after-lunch walks, and quizzes are all ways to help!

Got an interesting hobby or a topic to talk about? If you can give a short 45-minute talk, we’d love to hear from you!
